Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father's divorce from her family, she was grew up by her mother godparents and grandmother. In her early years, she battled an obsessive-compulsive disorder, suffering anxiety related to the word association. Ford began performing in her teen years and joined an actor in the National Youth Theatre. After being admitted to Sylvia Young Theatre School for brief time however, Ford realised that this was not the best venue for her. Ford then applied for a place for the Central School of Speech and Drama and received an acceptance on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring in Doctor Who. Ford's television debut was in a 1991 episode Surgical Spirit. By the when she finished her studies, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Tate was featured in such TV shows such like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London Burning. Tate's regular involvement in the theatre brought her into The Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 season. Tate started to get noticed due to her stand-up comedy in 1996.
